as you walk up the path that leads to the castle enterance, this majestic vewy comes into place though the sakura blossoms. Kumamoto castle was never penetrated by any army. It came close a time or two and the soldies burned biuldings they thought the Enemywas about to take, but the enemy army never did accually take the castle grounds.

Here comes Kumamoto Castle. the main tower is visable in this picture

this is Kumamoto Castle Park. It is huge on Japanese standards. a long time ago armys taht were prepareing for battle would pich camp here. now people have picknics and stuff here.

there are a lot of happy pigions here, they are fed very well by tourists who thought food to the fist in the rivver. the birds will swoop down and steal teh food.

Pigons at suisenji park. they ha e no fear of humans what so ever.

Fish were comeing from all around the pond at the sight of people near the watter edge.

people were haveing a picnic to the right and they cover the ground with a tarp so they don't get dirty.

Sakura, sakura. that Japanese national flower

Suisenji park is a really nice park. and you can not forget that your in the city becasue there are tall buildings all around.

Big pond, little fish, not sushi FYI

These fish are all over Japan. they are the Japanese Coy. Wenever humans get close to the water they gather in a large group near them hoping for food to be given to them. That fish food looks like a long donut and it tastes like styrofoam, Let me tell you....

These next 4 pictures could accually be put together as a panarama. If you wanted to that is, but I have no desire to do any more work than put them on the net. Suisenji koen is the name of this place, It literely translates as "water before time park." NIce place to see once, get your picture postcard things and then go see Kumamoto castle (again)

When Inside the park it seems that you are in another world but the towering apartments around suisenji park keep you remembering your in a city.

Here you can see a duck and a miniture scale modle of a mountian range... this park was biult by a samurai and then given to his son to keep biulding. It took 3 generations of the same family to finish building it. If I remember correctly.

Kumamoto Suisenji Park. It is supposed to be one of the best parks on Kyushu. There is a lot of flowers adn fish and ducks there. and more sakura trees than you can count.

Here is Kumamoto seen at night from a hill somewhere. Lots of lights and stuff.

THat Japanese Sakura blossoms... Cherry trees. They were just blooming when we played this game.

Mrs. Okamura also like golf. she is really into the game but dosn't practice much. Mr.@Okamura plays in competitions, and wins.

My debut on the golf course. a REAL golf coures that you get real old ladys for cadys and they do everything for you except swing the club. My frist time and I got a score of 139... not bad I think. my host father got a 87 or somthing near that.

This is a train station... cool picture.

I thought that is was nifty that the people were using callipers to mesue stuff when they biult the temples. THat shows just how percise that them people were so long ago. We use The same tools today that they used 500 or more years ago. Only, Our tools now can read .0001 Millileters and finer. These probaly go down to .2 CM or so I think.

This is a small model of the shrine we visited Just before we came to this museam. It is a very famous shrine I hear.

Apparently differant types of budisum have diffeant shingals for their roof. most butist types seem to follow in seccesion like it changes with time...

This is about 5 or 6 meteres tall inside a museam dedicated to budisum. An interesting place.

There was a pair of these at the gates to the shrine grounds, I seen them as I was walking out to the bus.
